Small Silkworms (Bombyx Mori)
High Protein: Soft Bodied: Low Fat: Easily Digestible Super Food Feeder
25+ Silkworms are prepared in a 16oz Pod with food inside including a 4oz container of their SilkChow along the journey.
Enviornment
Ideal Temp is 70°-85°
Place in a warm location away from any cold weather
You can place them on top of a heating pad, refrigerator, or anything else that would work!
Summertime heat won't hurt them but when winter shows up is when it's best to take extra care.
Care
The Pod must be kept straight up with the lid facing up. Dont place it upside down! Ventilation is needed or else mold starts forming.
Before feeding empty out their kernels(droppings)by shaking lightly on a piece of paper towel in case some silkies fall out.
Place their Silk chow(Mulberry Chow) anywhere in the pod, if you happen to just received them from shipping put some away from their kernels.
Inspect everyday to ensure no mold is present or high humidity.
Humidity happens more around summertime, when that occurs you can wipe it away with a papertowel.
Sometimes the unfortunate happens. Place them in a separate plastic container. Printer paper, towels or egg crates as their substrate.
Clean
Most importantly wash your hands before handling, cleaning, feeding and transfer due to their sensitive immune system.
